Hi, my name is Amanda and I just moved to Mission Beach, San Diego! I moved to DC for the summer from Boston, MA, to work as a nanny full time for the summer and loved it so much that I wanted to try living somewhere else. I realized I wasn't ready to go back to Boston and wanted to try living in a new place more permanently than just the summer. I have done a background check and everything. My rates are usually around $13 to $20/hour, it all depends on the amount of children and the amount of work you require. (If you want help doing the children's laundry, etc.. than I charge more.) I was a senior at UMASS Boston studying psychology and doing a minor in education. I have been thinking about changing my major to teaching so I'm going to take time off from school and do a couple on-line courses from Cali. I'm a very outgoing and friendly person. I love children and they are my weakness. I have been told I have a special gift when it comes to taking care of them. I love doing activities with the children such as sports, arts and crafts, going to the playground, going to the library, going to museums and zoos. I see baby sitting as more than taking care of the children rather than just watching them. I also as a friendship between the children and parents.
Last Summer I spent 45 hours a week with a 5 year-old girl in Boston, MA. I spent the summer taking her to the library, pool, park, museums, aquarium, etc. I had a wonderful time with her and wish I could still sit for her. She is now in school full time during the year.
This past school year, I worked 18-20 hours a week in Newton, MA, with a family that has two little boys. The youngest was 1 1/2 years old and the oldest was 3. The majority of my time was spent with the youngest. I had him on Tuesdays and Thursday for full days. I went to the house in the morning and help get the kids ready while the parents get ready for their day. I spent the rest of the day doing normal activities with a 1 1/2 year old.
I have been baby-sitting children since I was 13 years old. I have been baby-sitting the same family for the past four years, part time, for two kids, ages 7 and 4. I have been with the family since I had their son in the infant room at where I worked at my senior year of high school. I have worked in day cares for the past three years. I worked at LINCC in Lexington, MA, during high school, working with mostly infants and toddlers. I also substituted in other classrooms. I worked full time (35-40 hours ), two summers ago at BITCC in Newton, MA, working as a full-time substitute. I'm currently awaiting my day care teacher certification and looking forward to talking to you!
